Mark Twain is credited with the observation, “There are three types of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics!” Others, such as British Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli may have spoken it first, but we’ll leave that to the historians.
For example, liberals use statistics to show us that climate change is a real threat that will soon destroy the world if we don’t do something about it. However, do they tell you that the dismal predictions aren’t based on real data? Only about half of the data used by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) is real. The other half is data that is made up by computers which are programmed to created data which shows that the climate is warming. In other words, they throw away any data that doesn’t support their theory that the climate is rapidly getting warmer!
A Study cited by Time Magazine claimed that white extremists have killed more people in America than jihadists since 9-11. It’s an interesting statistic, and true! However, it’s totally irrelevant since white people are by far America’s largest demographic, and adult Islamists make up less than one percent.
So, the message here is be wary of statistics! As the old joke goes, “87 percent of statistics are incorrect.”
However, statistics have their place, and they’re being used correctly here at ConservativesAreEvil.com.
I get daily statistics that tell me how many people are viewing the web site, how many are new visitors and how many are return visitors. On average, during the past two weeks, after your first visit to the site, you’ve returned to the site 8 more times. You’re also reading an average of 7 pages every time you view the site. Note: All of these statistics are anonymous. I just see numbers. I don’t see any personal information.
Here’s why this is important!
Despite repeated visits to the site by the same viewers, only a handful have subscribed to receive new post announcements by email. The comment I’ve received multiple times is. “I’m afraid! I don’t want people to have my email address.” Well, here’s the truth. Your email address is never shared. It’s not sold, and it will never be used except to send you announcements of new posts. You can subscribe without fear!
Also, some of my readers tell me that they’re afraid to post their thoughts at the end of blog entries. Here’s how that works. You can type in any name you want. It doesn’t have to be your real name. Actually, if you want, you can type a different name every time you leave a reply/comment! You must, however enter your real email address. Again, though, it will not show up in your post and will never be shared, sold, or given to anyone. The email address is used only to verify that it is coming from a real email address and helps prevent the site from being spammed. You may post your thoughts without fear! I hope this clears up some of the questions.
