My liberal friends constantly berate me for getting much of my news from Fox News Channel. They say it’s a one-sided conservative mouthpiece that feeds the rabid masses with what they want to hear while ignoring the reality around them. My progressive friends tell me there are better alternatives such as MSNBC and CNN.
Admittedly, I’ve been watching Fox News and reading its website over the past few days. In addition to the COVID-19 pandemic, other things are going on in the world. One of the stories being covered by FNC is the Michael Flynn case. Almost daily, Department of Justice and FBI documents are being released that demonstrate with certainty that the FBI knowingly set up and framed an innocent Flynn, presumably in order to take down the Trump administration. A major Justice Department investigation is underway, supervised by the new Attorney General, Bill Barr.
If I mention this to a liberal friend, I will be derided with a comment such as, “I bet you got that from Fox News, didn’t you.”
Certainly, I did!
Why?
Because CNN doesn’t consider it important enough to even mention. When I checked the MSNBC website, I couldn’t find a news story about it, only an editorial criticizing President Trump for making statements in defense of Flynn. The opinion piece by Dean Obeidallah, who hosts the Dean Obeidallah Show on MSNBC is entitled Trump’s Twitter defense of Flynn shows he can sympathize — just not with coronavirus victims. Here’s an excerpt:
For an example, look no further than Trump’s Twitter tantrum about Michael Flynn, which started late Wednesday and extended into Thursday. Trump tweeted and retweeted numerous offers of support for Flynn, a member of his 2016 campaign and later his national security adviser, who pleaded guilty not once but twice in federal court to lying to the FBI about conversations with Russian officials.
Apparently, it’s not important to Obeidallah that Flynn never actually lied to the FBI and was coerced into pleading guilty by the FBI with threats that they would prosecute and destroy his family. Despite the release of exculpatory evidence, Obeidallah wants you to believe the liberal narrative that is falling apart before your eyes.
Take a look at this screen capture from the Fox News website.
CNN, on the other hand, apparently considers Michael Jordan turning down a speaking engagement bigger news. Michael Flynn is not mentioned on the website’s main page, while Jordan is right on top.
If you’re getting your news from the liberal media, you’re only getting what they want you to know. That is what they accuse Fox News of. It is as if they are ostriches sticking their heads in the sand. If they pretend it’s not there, maybe it will just go away.
The next time an acquaintance chides you with “I bet you heard that on Fox News, didn’t you,” I suggest you respond: “Yes. And thank goodness someone is not afraid to report the truth!”
