In my last post, I asked if my book The Conservative Vampire is being censored. Sales of my book dropped to nothing on Amazon, and I discovered that doing a search for “the conservative vampire” on the main Amazon site returned no results for my book, when only a week earlier, it had been at the top of search results.
I complained to Amazon, and apparently so did some of my readers. Again my book is at the top of search results.
However, Amazon does not acknowledge any manipulation of search results. In fact they implied that I just don’t understand how searches work. In an email response, I was told:
"A search on Amazon.com works much like an internet search engine, producing results based on your keywords. The order of the items that appear are determined automatically by our system from information such as: - Past sales history. - Current availability. - Length of time the item has been listed on our site. These factors also cause the results on our website to change constantly."
The email also said: “While we’re unable to change the search results, we do hope you have a better understanding of how our system works.”
While Amazon says they can’t make changes to search results, I find it interesting that after only a couple of days The Conservative Vampire is back on top after readers took notice of the apparent censorship.
Thanks to my readers for your support.
