I watched Congressman Adam Schiff read the articles of impeachment in front of the Senate this Thursday morning. Since the impeachment is going to proceed, I’m pleased to say that I’m glad that “Pencil Neck” Schiff is back in front of the public.
Why?
Does it have to do with his pleasant manner and profound intelligence? Does it have to do with his unquestioned honesty and love for the Constitution? Or maybe it has something to do with his scholarly knowledge of the law and his friendly bi-partisan collegiality with all those in Congress? Or maybe I just enjoy seeing his eyes bugging out over that magnificent neck?
Answer: Obviously, none of the above.
Actually, if you’re really, really smart — I mean super brainy, Jeopardy champion smart — you probably don’t have a clue as to whom I’m talking about.
However, if you’re a person of normal to high intelligence, and if you watch Fox News Channel, you know very well who Adam Schiff is. You also know that the only descriptors I used above that apply to him involve his bug eyes and pencil neck.
The real reason that I’m thrilled at the return of Pencil Neck is that it almost ensures that comedian Tom Shillue will revive his impression of Congressman Schiff on Fox News’ Greg Guttfield Show.
Let’s face it, if you’re going to have an impeachment, you need to balance it with some humor. Tom Shillue as Adam Schiff is inspired and will guarantee that the impeachment isn’t a waste of time. If we have to have an impeachment trial, at least we will get a laugh or two at the expense of the real Pencil Neck.
