There’s no doubt that the leaders of sanctuary cities like San Francisco, Los Angeles, Baltimore, Chicago, Boston, and dozens more, deserve what President Trump threatened: to release en-mass illegal immigrants into the jurisdictions that have declared themselves sanctuaries. These cities claim they will welcome immigrants without regard to their legal status. President Trump seems to want to put them to the test. He says his proposal should make them “happy.”
However, I suggest it’s not a good idea for several reasons.
First, despite the idiocy of the people who run these cities and the stupidity of the people who elected them, it’s the duty of the U.S. President to protect ALL American citizens — yes, even if they’re imbeciles. There’s no doubt that releasing large numbers of illegal immigrants into these cities will cause harm. Violent and non-violent crime will increase, social safety nets will be stressed, and economies will decline. Also, the first time that an illegal immigrant released into one of these sanctuary cities murders an innocent American citizen, it will backfire on the President and he will be blamed. If all of these people are dumped into American cities, there won’t be just one murder of an American citizen, there will be many.
Additionally, if illegal immigrants are dumped in our cities, they will likely never be deported. They will become our problems forever. Most of them will never be deported, anyway, but we don’t need to do anything to make the situation worse.
Maybe the President’s threat will awaken the liberals into thinking about what they actually want. It’s fine to say you’re a sanctuary city and pretend to hold the moral high ground, but when the illegals are bused in by the tens of thousands, will WELCOME signs still be flying over the city halls of sanctuary cities? I don’t think so… but you never know; some liberals aren’t just stupid… they’re REALLY stupid!
We need the WALL to keep illegals out, not a program to relocate them into our most liberal cities — even if the liberals deserve it.
