Had Pope Francis been born in the United States, he might be running for President against Donald Trump, along with all the other socialist losers who are running on the platform of a Green New Deal, income redistribution, socialized medicine, open borders, and free everything. Imagine the potential for bumper stickers: God Supports Him, Shouldn’t You!
Last weekend, I saw an article from the Catholic News Service entitled: Repent, Convert, Give Up Fossil Fuels, says Pope.
Pope Francis is quoted in the article as saying:
“Now is the time to abandon our dependence on fossil fuels and move, quickly and decisively, toward forms of clean energy… We have caused a climate emergency that gravely threatens nature and life itself, including our own.”
Really? You have to repent for using fossil fuels? I’m looking for the passage in the Bible, but I haven’t found it yet.
On the other hand, it’s too bad that President Trump isn’t Catholic and in line to be the Pope. If he were, Catholics and other Christians might be hearing more about the sanctity of life, the quest for world peace, and the dangers of socialism. A couple of days ago at the 74th Session of the United Nations General Assembly, President Trump said:
“Americans will also never tire of defending innocent life. We are aware that many United Nations projects have attempted to assert a global right to taxpayer-funded abortion on demand, right up until the moment of delivery. Global bureaucrats have absolutely no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that wish to protect innocent life. Like many nations here today, we in America believe that every child — born and unborn — is a sacred gift from God.”
I’ll keep this short. But why is Pope Francis sounding like Beto O’Rourke, while the President is addressing subjects of importance to Christians? Why is the Pope talking about political and scientific issues that he obviously knows nothing about, rather than spiritual issues of real concern to the world’s faithful?
Why is the shepherd of Catholics and Christians throughout the world leading his flock toward socialism, poverty, and despair?
Again, let me return to President Trump’s address to the United Nations General Assembly:
“With God’s help, together we will cast off the enemies of liberty and overcome the oppressors of dignity. We will set new standards of living and reach new heights of human achievement. We will rediscover old truths, unravel old mysteries, and make thrilling new breakthroughs. And we will find more beautiful friendship and more harmony among nations than ever before.”
This sounds like something that a great religious leader might say.
I think that if Pope Francis could somehow run for President, he would lose the Democratic nomination and fall somewhere behind Beto. That is, unless the Pope is better on a skateboard than we know.
