Many conservatives believe that you can tell when Nancy Pelosi is lying by looking to see if her mouth is moving. Actually, I think many liberals believe the same thing; they’re just not willing to admit it.
However, I heard a story, which if true, demonstrates that the Speaker of the House can be honest at times.
As the story goes, Nancy had decided to do a good deed and volunteered to take a first grade class on a tour of the natural history museum
The young students were astounded by the exhibits, and they came up to a massive display of a dinosaur, all of the bones intact with the creature looming a dozen feet above the floor.
“Does anyone know what this is?” Nancy asked.
Immediately, several hands went up and Nancy pointed to a little girl.
“Yes,” said the child proudly, “it’s a dinosaur.”
“Very good,” said Nancy. “And it’s extinct. Does anyone know what that means?”
All of the children looked around and looked puzzled.
“It means that it died very, very, very long ago,” said the speaker.
The hand of a little boy in the back of the group shot up.
“Yes,” said Nancy, pointing to the boy.
“Were you sad when it died?” he asked.
All of the children looked at her intently.
She paused for a moment, then lowered her eyes.
“Yes,” she answered. “I was sad.”
